Clinical Imaging Solutions

“Get further” vs “Staying at the same level” .

Medical progress never happens by simply maintaining the status quo. Year after year, the CT Clinical Engines enhances clinical capabilities by providing better diagnostic confidence and we intend to keep pace with the changing trends.

We not only provide improved image quality at lowered radiation doses but also we’ve freed CT practice of a lot of prep-time and after-care efforts; raised volume coverage and volume speed to new levels, enabling whole lot of new protocols, thus opening the door to improved diagnosis in routine clinical practice.

What is a CT Scan?

A CT (Computerized Tomography) scan uses X-rays to produce images of the body.

Preparation for CT Examination

  • Before the CT procedure, you will be asked to fill out a screening form asking about anything that might create a health risk or interfere with imaging.
  • Please hand over the prescription and previous treatment records to our front office staff who will then do the registration.
  • A locker is provided for your valuables.
  • Please inform us if you are pregnant.
  • At the time of appointment , you will be given specific instructions to follow before specialized scan procedures.

Usually there is no special preparation for CT scan. One may eat and drink before and after the scan, unless you have been told otherwise.

For CT contrast studies

4 - 6 hours of fasting prior to the study.
For contrast CT to obtain additional information , an injection of dye may be given into a vein. As with any medication, a very small number of patients may be allergic to contrast medium. A cannula (small tube) will be inserted into a vein before you go into the scan room or a small needle will be inserted into a vein during the scan. An injection of fluid (contrast medium) is often given into a vein in your hand. This helps to provide clearer images.

Procedure

  • You will have to lie still for up to 15-20 minutes on a table.
  • You may also be asked to briefly hold your breath for some special studies.
  • A member of the scanning team will give you instructions about your breathing and let you know what is happening at each stage of the scan.
  • The Radiographers will do their best to make you comfortable during the scan. Radiographer will be able to see you from the control room and you can communicate with each other through an intercom, especially if you are anxious.

How long will the scan take?

Our state of the art CT scanner takes quite a short time for most studies. Scans usually last between five to fifteen and thirty minutes. If your scan is going to take longer, you will be informed about this.
Depending on the complexity of the scan , few specialized scans may take longer time.
We suggest that you arrive on time for your appointment, as your delay may result in the disruption in the service to others. If you are going to be late or can't keep your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.

What happens afterwards?

You may eat ,drink and drive as usual. Front office staff will assist in the payment process and intimate the time at which the report will be ready. The images acquired during scan must be carefully interpreted by a Radiologist who is an expert in this field. The Radiologist will prepare the final report which you can collect along with the films. This may take a few hours to 1-2 days, depending upon the complexity of case, and will be intimated to you by the front office staff.
